What I do is very unorthodox, and some people are naturally more inclined to think outside of the box. We will not be doing the robotic version of exercise that has become the norm today – and aside from being more natural and enjoyable, what we will be doing instead simply works better. In my opinion, that’s a fact (let’s just pretend that makes sense).
Your fitness level really doesn’t matter much here – I can work equally well with a 75 year old beginner or an elite athlete. What does matter is whether you’re the type of person in general who has no problem going against the grain and doing things because they make sense rather than because it’s what you’re “supposed” to do.
In other words, I work well with people like me: hippies, weirdos, and anyone who follows their own logic & instincts rather than the crowd. Following the crowd is the fast track to mediocrity.
If you can approach our training with no preconceived notions and an open mind, you will be amazed at how fast you will see change.
To get the most of our time together, it’s important that you take ownership of your training. Mindlessly going through the motions will prevent you from having the insights and understandings that lead to major breakthroughs. If you come to me with the attitude of a student, then I will gladly be your teacher – but I don’t care to yell at you like a drill sergeant and turn the beautiful practice of movement into a form of punishment.
The depth of your goals is another very important determinant of if you are a good fit to work with me. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look better (we all do), but if aesthetic goals are your entire focus then we may not be a good fit. Instead, I want to help you become a well-rounded Primal Athlete. Being a Primal Athlete isn’t about building a sexy physique (though it’s a nice bonus), it’s about striving for body (and mind) mastery so that you can do anything that you choose.
A Primal Athlete developes the strength, flexibility, body awareness, and control to effortlessly move their body through space in nearly any way they choose. Whether it’s climbing, crawling, bending, squatting, twisting, or jumping – and eventually things like handstands, muscle-ups, or pure improvisation – a Primal Athlete can perform a wide range of tasks with ease.
If you’re on board with this holistic approach to movement, you’ll be amazed at not just how great you look and feel, but what you can DO. Whether you’re 20 or 70, effortless movement and incredible feats of strength, skill and body control are absolutely attainable.
